Improve your French listening skills watching Cyprien, a French youtuber
In language learning, listening comprehension is a key element!
Indeed, you can’t learn a language without being able to understand it.
Training your listening skills is crucial for comprehension, but it will also help you to improve your language skills in general.
The interesting point is that you can train your listening skills while having fun.
If you’re learning French, it’s recommended to watch movies in French, and I totally agree!
But if you’re a beginner, I personally would advise you to watch short videos.
It’s easier to stay focus during a short amount of time, and you can easily watch a short video several times to improve your overall comprehension of it (with and without subtitles).
That way you’ll learn new vocabulary, pronunciation, and it’s really rewarding when you’re finally able to understand everything in this 5 minute’s French video!
I have a good news for you, YouTube is really really popular in France, and a lot of French youtubers are making short videos about any topic you could think of!
Today I’m going to introduce you Cyprien, which is one of the most famous French youtubers.
Who is Cyprien ?
Cyprien started to make funny videos in 2007, and posted it on his blog.
Today, he has more than 10 million subscribers on his Youtube channel, made short films and also worked for TV!
His humorous short videos speaks about a lot of common everyday life topics, and watching his videos is a good way to listen to casual French (real “French from France” as I like to call it) and learn new useful vocabulary.
French and English subtitles are available, which is a good point!
No matter your actual French level, you’ll be able to watch its videos! You have no excuses!
My two favorite videos of Cyprien
• The first one is about fashion style, and you’ll probably learn some clothes French vocabulary, like “lunettes de soleil” (sunglasses) or “baskets” (trainers shoes). You’ll also see that French people use a lot of English words and vocabulary in everyday life!
• I absolutely love the second one! It’s a short video that stages what would have look a business meeting about the invention of our animals!
Again, you’ll probably learn a lot of animals French vocabulary like “serpent” (snake) or “cheval” (horse)!
